What it is
Vanture Club is an internet radio you can walk around in. You land on a desktop - icons, draggable windows, a menu bar - and the radio keeps playing warm-weather music while you poke around. The premise is simple: nothing closes and it’s always early evening at the club.
I co-create the project, working on both the design and the code.
Features
- Radio - continuous stream of hand-picked warm-weather channels
- Virtual desktop - News, Radio, Gallery, Guestbook, and VantureTV, each living in its own window
- VantureTV - ambient video channel to go with the music
- Playlists - hand-picked sets published on SoundCloud, announced on the Poolside blog
- Poolside - the club’s blog with playlist drops and news
Why it’s fun to build
The whole UI commits to one mood - pixel fonts, window chrome, striped title bars in faded pink and teal - so every feature starts with the question “would this feel native in here?”. Getting a web audio player, video channel, and blog to live inside that constraint is the best kind of design problem.
