What it is
Vanture Club is an internet radio wrapped in a retro desktop experience. You land on a vintage computer desktop - complete with icons, draggable windows, and a menu bar - and the radio keeps playing sun-soaked 80’s music while you poke around. The premise is simple: it’s always summer at the club.
I co-create the project, working on both the design and the code.
Features
- Radio - continuous stream of curated 80’s music
- Virtual desktop - News, Radio, Gallery, Guestbook, and VantureTV, each living in its own retro window
- VantureTV - ambient video channel to go with the music
- Playlists - hand-picked sets published on SoundCloud, announced on the Poolside blog
- Poolside - the club’s blog with playlist drops and news
Why it’s fun to build
The whole UI is a period piece - pixel fonts, window chrome, striped title bars - so every feature starts with the question “how would this have looked in 1986?”. Getting a web audio player, video channel, and blog to feel native inside that constraint is the best kind of design problem.
